Using a five-axis machine can reduce the total setup, machine time and fixtures. The advantage of five-axis machining is that shorter tools can be used because the tool/toolholder combination can be separated from other interference surfaces or features on the workpiece. It is particularly important in molds and mold work. In this case, the use of tool holder extensions can usually reach deeper cavity surfaces. Shorter tools can reduce vibration, which can achieve larger or shorter cuts, better surface finishes and longer service life.
With the five-axis full control function, it is easier to access more features of the part, because the tool can dynamically tilt away from the interference area on the part. Full five-axis control gives you the opportunity to refine hard-to-reach features, such as the corners of grooves or bosses, creating a smoother surface in the process. We can eliminate the need for secondary processing with the function.
